The milk's running away...
Translation by Sasha Dugdale, Michael Rosen
The milk’s running away
It’s running a long, long way
Rolling down the stairs
Along the road
On and on,
Rushing across the square
Pouring all over a policeman
Running under a bench
Jumping on to three old ladies
And wetting them right through.
It gives itself
To three kittens to drink
Then gets warm
And runs back
Along the street
Flies up the stairs
Out of breath
Crawling
Into the saucepan
Huffing and puffing.
The cook rushes over
to the cooker
Just in time.
Has the milk boiled?
Yes, the milk’s boiled.
