Translation by Mike Horwood
at the very first stirring
my airtight, upright
sarcophagus breaks
into pieces,
each fragment
starting to turn green
even as it falls
and the seeds
sink into clay
coming up as small trees
and clumps of grass
ready to take root
in the cracks between
the town square’s paving
