A cloud in oil from ‘A Triptych Stained with Mazut’

Dedicated to the deeds of drilling master Pahomov’s team from Mirnins, who drilled object K-8 on the Povhov oilfield near the Varyogan river and released waste products into the river. This oilfield, along with others, were later called Lukoil.
‘Every spring during the flood a thick pellicle of oil floated down the Varyogan river from the Povhov oilfield. It’s become hard for us to live…’
