Ziad Abdelkader

Ziad Abdelkader (b. 1979) is the only poet here who still lives in his first country, Tunisia. He says he has multiple pasts. History in his poems is contemporary, and his desire is to present what can be done in poetry through subtle means, from his early lyric poetry dedicated to Saadi Youssef, Mahmoud Darwish and other Arab poets or reaching out to imaginary places when he invents poems and a ributes them at times to Russian poets and film makers.
