VASALIS (Margaretha Drooglever Fortuyn-Leenmans, 1909–1998) is one of the best-loved Dutch poets of the twentieth century. She worked as a child psychiatrist and wrote poetry throughout her life, combining elements of free verse with traditional forms and metres.
