Tahar Bekri , who was born in 1951 in Gabès, Tunisia, is a poet who writes both in French and in Arabic. He has lived in Paris since 1976, and has published over twenty books : poetry, memoir, essays and art books. He teaches at the Université Paris X. His most recent books include Les dits du fleuve (Al Manar, Paris, 2009), Le Livre du souvenir, (Elyzad, Tunis, 2007) and Salam à Gaza, to be published by Elyzad in 2010.
