About

Susan Ranson

Translator

Susan Ranson: My father encouraged family poetry readings and an inspired teacher of German gave me some Rilke and said 'translate' - a task that has grown, alongside an interest in English punctuation and syntax as the sharpest of tools. Occasional published verse, and articles on language; in 2004 a study - apparently the first - on John Hopkins, the forceful and wayward sixteenth-century metrical psalmist
