Ma Ei

Ma Ei (b.1948), an established poet, whose work has been read since the period of Socialist rule (from 1962 onwards), has come through a long history of political turbulence in Myanmar,
and her poems reflect her experiences as a member of the Communist Party, a rebel, a school teacher, widow and divorcee, mother, editor and writer. At the same time, a strong feminism and pride in being a woman with her own identity are reflected in poems like ‘Out of Sight’.
