Kathleen Jamie was born in Renfrewshire, grew up in Midlothian and studied philosophy at Edinburgh University. She published her first full-length collection of poems with Bloodaxe in 1987. Her poetry collections include The Tree House (Picador 2004), which won the Forward Prize, and Jizzen (Picador 1999) which won the Geoffrey Faber Memorial Award.   She now lives in Newburgh, Fife.
