Ida Vitale


IDA VITALE (1923–) is a poet, essayist, critic, translator, professor of literature and the author of more than thirty books. She was forced into exile in 1974 due to the military dictatorship that annihilated Uruguayan society and culture. She has received numerous important awards and is widely translated into English.
