Dorothea Grünzweig

Dorothea Grünzweig, born in Korntal, Germany in 1952, studied German and English at the Universities of Tübingen and Bangor. After a period of research on G.M. Hopkins at Oxford and a teaching position at the Scottish University of Dundee, she worked at a boarding school in southern Germany. 

Except for brief terms as writer-in-residence in Scotland and Germany, since 1989 she has lived in Helsinki, Finland, where she writes and translates works by Finnish and English-language poets. She has published three collections of poems, Mittsommerschnitt (1997), for which she received the Lyrikpreis der Stiftung Niedersachsen/ Wolfenbüttel, Vom Eisgebreit (From the Ice Field) 2000, and Glasstimmen lasinäänet (Glass Voice lasinäänet) 2004, for which she received the Christian-Wagner Prize for Poetry, and Die Auflösung, 2008. – all with Wallstein Verlag, Göttingen. In 2010, she received the Anke-Bennholdt-Thomsen poetry prize.
