Ana Blandiana


Ana Blandiana is one of the most highly-acclaimed contemporary Romanian poets. She has published fourteen books of poetry, two of prose, seven books of essays and one novel. An anthology of her poems, The Hour of Sand, was published by Anvil in 1990. A selection of her poems appeared in Seamus Heaney’s translation in the anthology, When the Tunnels Meet (Bloodaxe Books, 1996) and in Silent Voices (Forest Books 1986).
