From the cover of MPT 'A Blossom Shroud'

We are holding several events this autumn to celebrate 'A Blossom Shroud', and to launch our forthcoming autumn issue which focuses on poetry from Ukraine and Russia. We are delighted to announce that Syrian poet Golan Haji and prolific translator and poet Stephen Watts will be joining us at our event at Poetry International on Saturday 14 October. We will be celebrating our recent issue 'A Blossom Shroud', which features work by Golan Haji alongside a selection of Arabic poets. Golan Haji’s appearance at this event is supported by Shubbak Festival.

Tickets are free but limited. Our past events at the National Poetry Library have all been booked up in advance, so early booking is advised. Book here.

Maria Stepanova joins MPT editor Sasha Dugdale at Pushkin House for an evening of poetry and discussion. Maria Stepanova will give a short talk about suppressed and persecuted poets in Soviet Russia and their influence on her own poetry. She will read from her most recent work, an ambitious and brilliant long poem 'The War of the Beasts and the Animals' which deals with the current atmosphere in Russia and the conflict in Donbass. This work will feature in Autumn’s Modern Poetry in TranslationBook here
